The Todd County Central Rebels head into Christmas on a bit of a roll, winners of three straight games.

The Trigg County Wildcats? Not so much.

The Rebels beat the Wildcats 74-47 in Tuesday’s championship game of the Chappel Allen Memorial Classic – their second win over Trigg in four days.

The Rebels pushed the tempo and were effective – scoring 1.2 points per possession. They broke the game open with an 18-3 run to begin the second half that turned a 33-24 halftime lead into a 51-26 lead.

Todd hit 12-of-17 shots in the third quarter while Trigg turned the ball over six times that left to five Rebel points. For the game, Todd County scored 19 points off 14 Wildcat turnovers.

Todd Central outscored Trigg 42-12 in the paint as the Wildcat defense consistently broke down and allowed easy baskets.

The Rebels shot 59-percent from the field, including 18-of-30 in the second half. And while the Rebels were the model of execution, Trigg County was the antithesis of it.

Trigg got bogged down offensively against the Rebel zone, getting up just 47 shots and shooting 34-percent.

Todd County Central put four players into double figures and all five starters had solid stat lines.

Preston Rager scored 11 points and handed out six steals. Hayden Strader put up 10 points and nine rebounds, and Perez Whitlock had six points, six rebounds, and six assists.
