The Hopkinsville Tigers are hoping some time off and some time away from home will help them get things turned around before the calendar flips to 2023.
The Tigers will play Atherton Tuesday at 6 pm in the City of Middletown Classic at Eastern High School in Louisville. Hoptown went 2-1 in this same event last year.
Hoptown takes a 3-6 record to Louisville after dropping two of three games in Madisonville last week. The Tigers have played the third toughest schedule in the region and the 20th most difficult in the state.
The Tigers are 1-3 over their past four games with three of those decided by single digits. Coach Anthony Babb is hoping this week’s slate of games will help improve late-game situations and decision-making.
Atherton is 5-4 and beat Western Hills 81-74 on Dec. 21. The Ravens allow just 57 points a game.
Other teams in the field are DeSales (5-5), Central (3-6), St. Mary (4-6), Bardstown (3-5), Butler (8-3), and host Eastern (7-2).
Play will continue on Wednesday and Thursday.
