The Lyon County Lyons have already traveled over 900 miles round trip to appear in three basketball events this month. They will add 438 miles this week when they make an appearance in the White, Greer, and Maggard Holiday Classic hosted by Lexington Catholic High School.

The Lyons will play Covington Holy Cross Tuesday night at 7 pm.

Lyon County is 9-3 after going to 2-2 at the King of the Bluegrass.  Four games in four days in Louisville appeared to catch up to the Lyons as they lost to North Oldham 107-73 in the third place game.

However, Friday’s appearance in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic was canceled due to weather, giving the Lyons seven days between games and maybe some refreshed legs.

Lyon County will face a Holy Cross team that is 6-2. One of their two losses was a 15-point loss to Great Crossing on Dec. 9. Lyon County lost to Great Crossing 69-61 last week.

The Indians are led by senior guard Jacob Meyer who is averaging 35 points a game. Meyer holds several mid-major offers after de-committing from Western Kentucky University.

The Lyons are in the same bracket as Woodford County (4-5) and Ballard (7-1), who got a boost with the return of senior guard Gabe Sisk who came back to Louisville after some time at a California prep school.
