After tough back-to-back losses to 3rd Region opponents, the UHA Blazers were looking for some positive momentum as 2022 winds its way to a close. The Blazers got that Thursday in the form of a win over Evansville Bosse.
Led by a big game from Lemar Northington II, UHA fought past the Bulldogs 65-59 in the Henderson Chevrolet, Buick, GMC Classic. Northington scored 12 of his 24 points in each half in leading the Blazers to the win.
The game was a tight battle throughout. Bosse led 12-11 after the opening quarter. The Blazers battled back and took a 27-22 lead into the break.
The Blazers and the Bulldogs played dead even in the third quarter. UHA took a 43-38 lead into the final eight minutes of the game.
UHA was then able to fend off the Bulldogs to pick up the win. The Blazers would knock down 8 of 12 free throws in the final quarter to help secure the win.
In addition to Northington’s 24 points, Elijah Walton also reached double figures for UHA with 14.
With the win, the Blazers improve to 5-5 on the season. They finish out the event and the year with a game against Muhlenberg County Friday in Henderson.
