With lopsided wins in each of their first two games at the Overton Christmas Tournament in Nashville, the Christian County Colonels may want to extend their stay south of the border into the New Year.

The Colonels followed up a 29-point thrashing of Knowledge Academies on Wednesday with an 89-56 victory over Maplewood, TN on Thursday.  On Friday, they’ll wrap up their stay in Nashville with a matchup against Pearl-Cohn, TN.

Derrell Bateman spearheaded a dominant first quarter, scoring 13 points to help the Colonels to a 32-13 advantage.  Breland Morrison added seven points, and Jordan Miles and George Sanders combined for ten.

Christian County stretched the margin to 25 at the halftime break, with Morrison and Bateman teaming up for 17 of the Colonels’ 22 points in the second quarter.

Monzo Sweeney and Chris Williams did their best to keep Maplewood in the game, scoring 13 and 1,1, respectively, but the rest of the team only managed five points in the first half.

Bateman posted ten points in the third to finish with 31, and Morrison capped a 23-point night with seven in the frame.  Both had the fourth quarter off, with George Sanders carrying the load with eight points over the final eight minutes.

The final margin is the largest of the season for the Colonels, leaving them one win short of .500 at 5-6.
