The Christian County Lady Colonels got a chance to celebrate a little bit of the spirit of the holiday basketball season Thursday afternoon. The Lady Colonels took control of their game against Warren Central in the third quarter on their way to a 61-49 win over the Lady Dragons in the 7th place game of the Vanous Lloyd Christmas Classic at Warren Central.

Christian County got off to a good start thanks to the outside shooting of freshman point guard Anaysia Bagwell, who knocked down three from behind the arc in the first eight minutes of the game. The Lady Colonels led 17-11 after the first quarter.

The two teams played fairly even during the second quarter. Christian County was able to inch their lead out to seven points at 33-26 going into the break.

Coming out in the second half, the Lady Colonel defense clamped down on the Lady Dragons, limiting Warren Central to just three field goals. Meanwhile, Amari Northington sparked Christian County with seven points in the third as the Lady Colonel lead grew to 51-32.

Warren Central was able to cut into the lead in the final quarter, but the deficit was too much to completely chew up as the Lady Colonels held on for the 12-point win.

Anaysia Bagwell was the top scorer for Christian County with 19 points, including four made 3-pointers. She also had 8 assists and 4 steals in the game. Evanna McGregor finished the afternoon with 16 points. NeVaeh Day had 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 blocked shots.

With the win, which ended a two-game losing skid for Christian County, the Lady Colonels improved to 5-7 on the year. They return to action next Thursday when they host Crittenden County.
