
The Trigg County Lady Wildcats came out firing on all cylinders Thursday in a 56-40 win over Poplar Springs, Ala. at the Marlin Holiday Classic in Arnold, Fla.
The Lady Wildcats hits five 3-pointers in the first quarter as they ran out to a 23-10 lead. Olivia Noffsinger hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points in the opening quarter.
Poplar Springs would pull to within 32-24 by halftime as Harley Owens scored eight of her 16 points in the second frame.
The Graceville, Florida school got to within four points with a quarter to play, but Trigg held the Atomics without a field goal in the fourth quarter.
Trigg County hit 6-of-8 free throws down the stretch to hold on.
Kara Hyde joined Noffsinger in double figures with 17 points – eight of those coming in the first eight minutes.
Trigg County finished with eight 3-point buckets and ten 2-point buckets.
The Lady Wildcats will close out play in Florida Friday against Brewbaker Tech from Montgomery Alabama
