Caldwell County’s girls warmed up for next week’s 2nd Region All A Classic by facing some stiff 3rd Region competition Saturday afternoon.

Owensboro built a 37-19 lead at halftime, then pulled away in the second half for a 76-33 victory at the CAB gym in Princeton.

The visiting Lady Devils scored the first seven points of the contest and led wire-to-wire.

Caldwell (4-9) was still as close as 26-14 midway through the second quarter, but a 9-0 run helped Owensboro extend its lead to the 18-point margin at halftime.

Owensboro (11-5) then opened the second half with three 3-pointers — and connected on six 3s in the third quarter. Caldwell, meanwhile, managed just two field goals in the period while being outscored 28-4.

That gave the Lady Devils a 65-23 advantage going to the fourth period.

Lindsey Gibson had 15 points to lead Owensboro but was the only Lady Devil to score in double figures.

Owensboro had three players score nine points and two more score eight while playing a lot of players in the contest.

Presley McKinney led Caldwell with eight.

The Lady Tigers are 0-7 all-time against Owensboro.
