
The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers are headed to the semifinals of the 2nd Region All A Classic. The Lady Blazers scored the first 13 points of the game against Fort Campbell Monday night and were never seriously threatened as they rolled to an 89-23 win over the Lady Falcons in Blazer Gym.
The Lady Blazers opened the game with defensive pressure and the Lady Falcons never found the way to deal with it over the course of the night. Fort Campbell also never could find a way to deal with the inside-outside combination of Alecia Davis and Lee Lee Love on the other end as the duo pretty much had their way on the night.
UHA led 30-8 after the opening quarter. That lead grew to 52-19 at the half.
The Lady Blazers kept rolling as the second half got underway. The running clock came into play during the 3rd quarter and by the end of the quarter, the lead was 73-23.
Things were not any better for the Lady Falcons over the final eight minutes as the UHA defense pitched a shutout and closed out the big win.
Alecia Davis topped the scoring column for UHA with 33 points. Lee Lee Love added 23. Kennady Quarles also hit double figures with 15 points.
Fort Campbell was led by Rosella Rajj with 8 points. Charlize Cruz chipped in with seven points.
Turnovers were a big story in the game, with UHA forcing Fort Campbell into 31 miscues. UHA also outrebounded the Lady Falcons 51-31.
UHA improves to 3-11 with the win. Fort Campbell drops to 2-5.
The Lady Blazers will square off against Crittenden County in Thursday night’s first semifinal game. The Lady Rockets rolled past Caldwell County 62-34.
UHA and Crittenden County played Saturday in Marion with the Lady Rockets winning 69-51.
