Lady Colonels’ Rally Turned Away in OT Loss to Tilghman

Despite a 23-point, 17-rebound performance on Monday from Christian County’s NeVaeh Day, the Lady Colonels saw a fourth-quarter rally end in a 72-67 overtime loss to visiting Paducah Tilghman.

The Lady Colonels were looking for a third win in a row, but a rough night at the free-throw line was too much to overcome against the 8-3 Blue Tornado.

Day got started with seven points in the first quarter and Anaysia Bagwell added five, but eight points from Jayla Reed kept Paducah Tilghman within a point.

The Lady Colonels went cold in the second and were held to five points, allowing Tilghman to build a 35-21 halftime lead.  Victoria Wheeler scored five for the Blue Tornado and Diamond Gray and Dasia Garland combined for eight.

Day carried the Lady Colonels with eight in the third, but Paducah Tilghman led by 16 with a quarter to play.

Christian County roared back in the fourth behind six points each from Day and Bagwell.  Evanna McGregor chipped in four, and the Lady Colonels outscored Tilghman 22-6 to force overtime.

The Lady Colonels finished 15 of 41 at the free-throw line, stumbling to a three for ten effort in overtime.  Lazarie Daniel scored four points in OT for Christian County, but Garland and Gray teamed up for 13 to lead the Blue Tornado to the win.

Bagwell joined Day in double figures with 18, and Sarah Harris finished with six point and ten rebounds.

Gray led the Blue Tornado with 20, followed by Garland with 19 and Reed with 16.
