The Daviess County Lady Panthers got 29 points from senior Adylan Ayer and pulled away in the second half to pick up a 66-55 win over Christian County Tuesday night in Owensboro. The win is the second straight for the Lady Panthers over Christian County.
Ayer scored five points in the opening quarter as Daviess County took a 10-9 lead. Evanna McGregor kept Christian County close by connecting on two threes and scoring seven points in the quarter.
Ayer got some help from teammates Zoey Beehn and Emma Roberts in the second quarter as the Lady Panthers inched the lead out to 29-24 at the half. After being shut out in the opening quarter, the Lady Colonels’ Anaysia Bagwell heated up and scored eight points in the second.
Adylan Ayer picked up her pace in the third quarter, scoring 11 points and running the lead out to 50-37 at quarter’s end. That effort in the third would turn out to be the difference.
Christian County would actually outscore Daviess County by two in the final quarter but that would not be enough as the Lady Panthers held on for the 11 point win.
Anaysia Bagwell led the Christian County effort with 24 points. Evanna McGregor also reached double-figures with 15.
In addition to Ayer’s 29 points, Emma Roberts had 14 for Daviess County, while Zoey Beehn added 11.
The loss drops Christian County to 8-10 on the year. They are back in action next Tuesday when they host Union County.
