Six Medalists Lead Lady Falcons to 4th Place at Girls’ State Wrestling

A school record performance for the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons at the Kentucky Girls State Wrestling Championships Saturday in Lexington. The Lady Falcons scored 104 points in the event with that total good enough to give the Lady Falcons 4th place.

Taylor County took 1st place with 151 points. Harrison County was 2nd with 132, and North Hardin finished third with 128.

The 104 points was a record team score for the Lady Falcons. Fort Campbell had six wrestlers to medal in the championships. Those six medalists were:

Maddie Hebert – 5th place – 100 lbs. Defeated Sophia Moore, of Harrison County, in the 5th place match. This was the second time that Hebert had placed at the state wrestling tournament.

Lillianah DeWitt – 7th place – 107 lbs. Defeated Alexis Warren, of Boyle County, in the 8th place match.

Kayla Maslonka – 5th place – 114 lbs. Defeated Keyonna Perry, of McCreary Central, in 5th place match.

Savannah Ziegler – 4th place – 120 lbs. Lost to Lacey Gilbert, of Woodford County, in the third place match. It was the second time that Ziegler had placed at state.

Thea Bober-McDonald – 6th place – 126 lbs. Lost to Drew Ann Sprague, of Union County, in the 5th place match.

Brooke Arbic – 5th place – 165 lbs. Defeated Naomi Santiago, of Henderson County, in the 5th place match.

Fort Campbell has finished in the top four in three of the school’s four appearances at the girls’ state tournament, which is sponsored by the Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Association.
