Dates and Times Set for 8th District Tournaments

The dates and times have now been set for the 2023 8th District basketball tournaments. That action came during a meeting of coaches and athletic directors from the district schools Tuesday morning. This year’s tournament is being hosted by University Heights but is being played on the other side of North Drive at Christian County.

The boys’ tournament will get underway with the two semifinal games Monday, February 20 at Christian County High School. The 6pm game will have top-seed Christian County taking on Fort Campbell. That game will be followed by Hopkinsville and University Heights. Their official seeding position, and jersey color, will be determined after the two teams play Friday night.

The girls will take to the court Tuesday night with semifinal action. At 6pm, Christian County will take on Fort Campbell, followed by the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers and the UHA Lady Blazers.

Both championship games will be played on Thursday night. The girls’ title game will start at 5:30pm, followed by the boys’ championship battle.

Tickets for this year’s tournament will be 8-dollars. Tickets will be able to be bought online in advance, using a credit or debit card at the gate, or by using cash at the gate.

In other action at the meeting, officials approved the tournament rotation for the next five years. The 2024 tournament will be hosted by and played at Christian County High School. The tournament will be the final one for both Hopkinsville and Christian County.

Going forward, the tournament for the following four seasons will be played at Hopkinsville High School. Fort Campbell will be the host in 2025, Heritage Christian in 2026, Hopkinsville-Christian County Academy in 2027, and University Heights in 2028.
