Young Tiger Wrestlers Do Well at State Tournaments

Tiger wrestlers (from left) Bradley Asher, Ethan Klidzejs, Noah Bonnell and Donovan Rogers did well in state tournament action in Corbin.

Caldwell County’s young wrestlers did well in action at the state middle school and youth tournaments last weekend in Corbin.

Local wrestlers claimed a youth state championship, had three youth runners-up and a sixth-place finisher in the middle school division.

Donovan Rogers claimed the youth state championship at 121 pounds.

Meanwhile, third grader Lincoln Van Hooser was runner-up at 65 pounds, sixth grader Noah Bonnell was runner-up at 92 pounds and sixth grader Bradley Asher was runner-up at 152.

The Tigers come together before wrestling at state.

Third grader Zeagon Harris was fourth at 65 pounds.

Duke VanHooser was fourth at 50 pounds.

Caldwell placed 32nd out of 97 teams in the youth tournament on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Tiger wrestlers claimed one medal at the middle school state tournament on Saturday.
Ethan Klidzejs, a fifth-grader, placed sixth at 86 pounds.

Caldwell had several to win matches at the youth state tourney. Westinn Overby, a first-year wrestler, won two matches and missed the medal round by just one match.

Over 1,300 youngsters wrestled Sunday in the youth state. Around 300 wrestled in Saturdays middle school tournament.
