A red-hot start from behind the arc staked the Christian County Colonels to an early 25-point lead on the way to a 72-30 victory over hosts Fort Campbell on Thursday.
The win is the Colonels’ fourth in five outings and runs their 8th District record to 5-1. As the top seed, they’ll face Fort Campbell again in the opening round of the district tournament.
Christian County put the game away in the opening three minutes, leading 15-0 before Fort Campbell got on the scoreboard on a Daniel Castro three-pointer.
The Colonels knocked down six first-quarter threes, including three for Jordan Miles, to lead 29-4. Miles scored 11 in the opening frame, and Breland Morrison and Trey Blanton combined for ten.
Christian County continued to pour it on in the second, leading by 30 after a layup by Morrison and triggering a running clock on a KJ Vaughn bucket with just over two minutes left in the first half.
Miles scored all of his game-high 17 before halftime, and Morrison had 13 at the break.
8th-grader Lashaud Smiley was the lone Falcon in double figures, just missing a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.
Christian County finished 9/15 from behind the arc and shot 28/62 from the floor. The Falcons were 12/46 and were outrebounded by six.
