
The Trigg County Wildcats’ brief three-game winning streak ended Thursday with a 71-57 road loss at McLean County.
The Wildcats hit ten 3-pointers – four each by Hunter Reynolds and Jhaden Vaughn – but had trouble matching McLean County on the defensive end.
McLean County’s ball movement saw them rack up 18 assists on 27 field goals.
The Third Region Cougars outscored Trigg County in every quarter except the third.
Trigg County’s outside attack saw them shoot a limited number of free throws. The Wildcats only shot two free throws in the first half and were 9-of-12 for the game.
Vaughn led the Wildcats with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Reynolds added 14 points. Luke Washer chipped in with a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Jason Floyd led McLean County with 18 points. Brodie Cline added 16 points for the Cougars, who knocked down eight 3-pointers.
Trigg County dropped to 1-5 all-time against McLean County and 0-3 in games played in Calhoun.
