Four Falcons to Wrestle at State First Round

Four wrestlers will represent Fort Campbell High School at the state first round Saturday at Atherton High School in Louisville.

John Montalvo scored a third place finish. After a semifinal loss, Montalvo took an 8-6 decision over Christian County’s Tay Martinez to finish third and qualify for state first round.

Also finishing third and advancing to Louisville was Keshawn Dixon in the 165-pound class.

T.J. Dixon finished in fourth place in the 175-pound class. Both of his losses Saturday were to McCracken County’s Isaiah Harris.

Jeffery Perry will be an alternate after finishing in fifth place in the 113-pound class. Dylan Linnemeier also finished fifth in the 126-pound class and will be an alternate.

Fort Campbell finished in sixth place as a team with 103 points.

The KHSAA is using the state first round format for the third straight year. The top eight finishers in each weight class at the state first round will advance to a sixteen-person bracket for the state wrestling championships at George Rogers Clark High School on Feb. 24-25.
