
If the winner of the girls’ 2nd Region championship is to make a long run at Rupp Arena they will most certainly have earned it as the path will loaded with challenges at this year’s Sweet 16. The draw for this year’s tournament took place Wednesday afternoon in Lexington.
In the Girls Sweet 16, the winner of the 2nd Region will play Thursday, March 9 against the winner of the 8th Region. The top 3 teams in the 9th Region, according to the latest RPI rankings are Anderson County, Spencer County, and Owen County.
The top 3 teams in the latest 2nd Region RPI are Henderson County, Hopkins County Central, and Crittenden County.
With the way the draw came out, there are five of the top 10 teams in the state in the regions that will play in the bottom half of the bracket, along with the 2nd Region winner.
The Girls Sweet 16 will be played March 8 through March 11 at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
