Slow Start Dooms Hoptown Girls at Logan County

Single-digit performances in each of the first two quarters on Tuesday put the Hopkinsville girls’ basketball team in an early hole on the way to a 55-43 loss at Logan County.

The Lady Tigers slipped to 7-13 ahead of a regular-season finale against Crittenden County on Friday.  Logan County won for the fifth time in six outings to improve to 17-11.

Emerson McKinnis and Emily Borders combined for ten points, and Logan County led 16-3 after the opening quarter.

Proceedings didn’t improve for the Lady Tigers in the second.  Nora Epley knocked down a pair of three-pointers to help the Lady Cougars to a 31-11 lead at the halftime break.

Kahtahvia Fleming closed the gap with seven third-quarter points for the Lady Tigers, and TaRia Sharber added six to cut the margin to 15 going to the fourth quarter.

Fleming and Hailee Moore each scored seven for Hoptown, but Borders posted six over the last eight minutes to help the Lady Cougars close out the win.

Fleming led all scorers for Hopkinsville with 18, followed by Moore with 11.

Borders and Epley each had 13 for Logan County, and Brenley Adler finished with 11.
