The Christian County Lady Colonels will be on the momentum of a three-game winning streak as the postseason gets underway next week. The Lady Colonels finished up the regular season Friday night with a big 51-27 road win at Warren Central.
The Lady Colonel defense settled this one early. Christian County held Warren Central to no field goals in the first quarter and just two for the entire first half. The Lady Colonels led 15-4 after the opening quarter, with that lead growing to 28-15 at the half.
The only reason the Lady Dragons were within eyesight of the Lady Colonels at the break was their free-throw shooting. Warren Central hit 11 of 12 from the free throw line over the first sixteen minutes.
However, with the Christian County defense locked in, there would be no rally this night for the Lady Dragons. As it turned out, Christian County would have enough points at the half to win the game. The Lady Colonels’ defense held Warren Central to just six points in each of the final two quarters.
Christian County led 38-21 after three and then rolled on to the final 24-point margin.
Anaysia Bagwell was one of three Lady Colonels to hit double figures with 14 points. NeVaeh Day and Lazarie Daniel added 11 points each for Christian County. Day also had 13 rebounds, which moved her to the 500 mark for her young career at Christian County.
Aida Akhmedova was the only double-figure scorer for the Lady Dragons with 10 points.
Christian County finishes the regular season at 13-13. They open district tournament play Tuesday against the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons.
