Despite 22 points from senior Aidan Blszkowski on Saturday against visiting Fort Knox, the Fort Campbell boys’ basketball team came up short in a 62-44 Senior Night defeat to the Eagles.
The Falcons were doomed by a slow start, trailing 14-9 after the first quarter. Blaszkowsi scored five points in the first and followed with four in the second frame, trimming the margin to one with a three-pointer early on.
However, Fort Knox answered with an 8-0 run to lead 22-13 after a three-pointer by Maurice Bonner. Bonner scored nine in the frame, including four straight to force a Falcon timeout with 3:21 left in the third quarter.
Fort Campbell closed to 50-42 after back-to-back three-pointers by Blaszkowski with 2:58 to go, but Fort Knox extended the lead from the free-throw line to close the game.
Blaszkowski’s 22 led all scorers, followed for the Falcons by Daniel Castro with ten. Maurice Moore and Dason Tate were both injured early on and did not return.
Bonner’s 15 points paced Fort Knox, followed by Shemar Ward with 13 and Orlando Silva-Warren with 11.
