Call it an ‘even’ start to the 2023 baseball preseason for the Lyon County Lyons. The Lyons rallied to score two runs in the top of the 6th inning Saturday afternoon to end up in a 6-6 6-inning tie during a scrimmage at Apollo.
Brady Belt capped off the two-run rally in the top of the final innings with an RBI single that scored Peyton Williams for the tying run. John Bingham set the Eagles down in order in the bottom half of the inning to preserve the tie.
Lyon County plated three runs in the very first inning thanks to a 2-run double from Eli Baker and an RBI single from Brady Belt.
The Eagles scored in each of their first three at-bats to take a 5-4 lead after three innings. Apollo added another run in the bottom of the 5th to extend the lead to 6-4.
Eli Baker and Brady Belt led the Lyon County attack at the plate. Each was 2-3 with 2 RBIs on the day.
Baker, Belt, and Bingham all saw time on the mound for the Lyons. Baker and Belt were each charged with 2 earned runs, while Bingham was charged with one.
The Lyons will officially open the 2023 season March 13, when they host Calloway County.
