You could forgive the Henderson County Colonels if they are a little nervous about Monday night’s regional semifinal matchup with the Hopkinsville Tigers. The Tigers have already ended the seasons for the #4 and the #3 team in the 2nd Region in the KHSAA RPI ratings, and guess where the Colonels currently sit.

The Colonels, who finished in the #2 slot in the regional RPI rankings, and the Tigers meet in Monday night’s second semifinal game, with the winner to take on the winner of Lyon County-Christian County in Tuesday night’s regional title contest.

Hopkinsville eliminated #3 UHA in the opening round of the 8th District tournament and then sent the #4 Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons into the offseason Thursday night.

Henderson County has won the last two games on the court between the two schools, including a matchup earlier this season.

In the matchup back on January 3, Hopkinsville led at the half but saw Henderson battle back to claim a 62-52 win.

Antonio Williams had a big night for Hoptown with 15 points and 13 rebounds. KeiMarion Smith also hit double-figures with 12.

Gerard Thomas, who saved the Colonels from an upset loss to Trigg County Thursday night, scored 17 against the Tigers in the earlier game. Cooper Davenport added 14.

The story of the game took place at the line, where Hopkinsville was just 3 of 6, while Henderson went to the line 28 times and made 22 of them.

Tipoff for Henderson and Hopkinsville in the second semifinal Monday night is set for approximately 7:30pm.
