Butler County Upends Lady Colonels in Final Scrimmage

During a regular season doubleheader in 2022, the Butler County Lady Bears could only muster one run over the two games. The Lady Bears had a bit more success Saturday in Christian County’s final preseason scrimmage.

The Lady Bears scored 8 runs over their final three at-bats and took a 9-6 7-inning scrimmage win in Morgantown.

LaiLai McGregor and Gracie Harned put Christian County up 2-0 in the top of the first with RBI singles. Butler County scored one in the bottom half of the inning and then added a 2-run homer in the 4th to take a 3-2 lead.

Christian County used a pair of walks to tie the game at 3-3 in the fifth. The Lady Bears took the lead for good with four runs in the bottom of the inning, taking full advantage of four singles and two walks. A Lady Colonel error opened the door for two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Karlee Crick cut the lead in half with a three-run blast to left in the top of the 7th but the Lady Bears retired the next three batters to end the game.

Crick finished the game 2-3 with 4 RBIs and two runs scored. Avery Adcock was 2-3 with a pair of runs scored.

Gracie Harned got the start in the circle, going 4 2/3-innings.

Christian County will officially open the 2023 softball season Monday when they go on the road to take on the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.
