Maybe it’s just that Ian Tyler really likes pitching in cold weather. Whatever it was, the University Heights Academy senior was on his game in a big way Monday afternoon in really cold and windy conditions as the Blazers hosted the Henderson County Colonels.

Tyler pitched six innings of one-hit baseball as UHA opened with an impressive 7-0 win over the Colonels. Tyler held Henderson County hitless until the top of the 5th inning when Clayton Brown led off the inning with a single for the Colonels. Tyler struck out 10 and walked only one.

Jackson Flynn came in to close out the game with a hitless seventh inning on the mound for UHA.

The Blazers did most of their damage offensively in the bottom of the third inning. UHA took full advantage of three Henderson errors to score six runs in the inning. The big hit in the inning was a two run double off the bat of Luke Shouse. Shouse was 1-2 on the day.

UHA added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single from Ty Hunt. Hunt finished the game 1-4.

Ryan Luckey, Jaiden Miles, Jackson Flynn, and Ben Stone also had one hit each for the Blazers.

UHA (1-0) will get back to action Tuesday on the road at Crittenden County.
