It may not have felt much like baseball weather in Elkton on Monday, but the Todd County Central Rebels looked to be in midseason form in a 22-0 season-opening victory over Fort Campbell.

The Rebels took advantage of 14 Falcon walks to hand first-year coach Jim Daigle his first victory and win their opener for the third-straight season.  Todd Central will look to make it two in a row on Tuesday with a matchup against Trigg County in Cadiz.

Todd Central took a 1st-inning lead on Nate Reding’s RBI double, part of a three-hit five-RBI night for the Rebel catcher.  Fort Campbell starting pitcher Aidan Blaszkowski only lasted a third of an inning, giving up ten runs, two earned, on five hits and three walks.

Todd Central center fielder Gavyn Nolan was three for three at the plate and drove in five runs, George Cumbee finished with a pair of hits and two RBI, and Devin Schutt had a hit and knocked in two runs.

Jase Hampton was lights out on the mound, striking out seven and issuing a pair of walks on the way to the win.

Fort Campbell will jump into district play on Tuesday when the Falcons hit the road to face Christian County before making the trip to University Heights on Thursday.
