Low temperatures didn’t stop Caldwell County from putting up some big numbers in Monday’s season opener at Livingston Central.

The Tigers put up eight runs in the top of the first inning and later had seven-spots in the fourth and fifth innings.

Caldwell used a 16-hit attack to post a 24-4 victory in five innings — the Tigers’ 16th straight win against Livingston.

Jamus Carneyhan was 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs batted in and two runs scored to lead Caldwell’s big day — which fell just one run shy of the school’s single-game record. The Tigers beat Dawson Springs 25-0 in 2010.

Meanwhile, Ben Goodaker held Livingston to just one earned run on two base hits in four innings of work to pick up the win on the mound. He struck out nine and walked two.

Carneyhan pitched a scoreless fifth inning to finish off the victory.

Carter Whittington went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while Brady Holeman was 3-for-5 and knocked in two.

Goodaker was 1-for-3 with a double and three runs batted in. Ari Wells was 1-for-5 but drove in four and scored twice. Cole Slone went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.

Luke Parker, Hunter Newsom and Collin Whittington each singled.

Caldwell now leads the all-time series with Livingston 76-38-1.

The Tigers will play at home for the first time on Tuesday against Lyon County.
