Colonels Romp Past Fort Campbell in District Opener

Make it a 2-0 start to the 2023 baseball season for the Christian County Colonels. The Colonels only batted twice Tuesday afternoon as they rolled past Fort Campbell 17-0 at Colonel Field.

The Colonels plated ten runs in the bottom of the first and seven more in the bottom of the second in their only two innings to bat.

Freshman hurler Sebastian Dazey had a solid debut. Dazey pitched all three innings of the game, giving up just two hits while striking out six and walking only one.

Elijah Underhill and Aiden Lewis had two hits each for the Colonels. Underhill was 2-2 with two doubles, 2 RBIs, and three runs scored. Lewis was 2-2 with a pair of doubles, an RBI, and two runs scored. Gage Montes finished 1-2 with a double and two RBIs for Christian County.

Fort Campbell’s two hits came from Adam Harrington and Chase Cribbett.

A tough day for Fort Campbell starter Jayden Swann. In one inning of work, he was tagged with 15 runs, only seven of them earned as the Falcons were charged with four errors in the game. Swann struck out one and walked four.

Christian County (2-0) travels to South Warren Wednesday night.

Fort Campbell (0-2) visits University Heights Thursday.
