By defeating Glasgow High School for the first time in over 20 years, the Todd County Central baseball team is advancing to the next round in the All A 4th Region Tournament. The Rebels, who got a tremendous effort from senior pitcher Jacob Brandon, defeated the host Scotties 6-0 on Monday night to move on.

The Rebels, who had not played a game in a week, relied heavily on its arms to win for the first time since March 17. Brandon was nearly unhittable during his first victory of the year. He struck out 11, walked three, and allowed just one hit during five innings. Fellow senior Jase Hampton threw the final two innings and helped Todd Central secure a shutout win for the third time in four games.

TCCHS (3-1) did the bulk of its offensive damage during a four-run third inning. Nate Reding got the onslaught started with his season-leading third double that plated Preston Rager. After a Brandon RBI groundout and Hampton RBI single, Devin Schutt delivered a run-scoring double of his own to give the Rebels a 5-0 advantage.

Losers of its last three contests coming in, Glasgow committed two of its four errors during the fourth inning, eventually leading to a Zack Robinson grounder that scored Rager and rounded out the Todd output. Mason Bass (1-2) allowed five walks and three runs on one hit, taking the loss after two innings on the mound. Relievers Preston Gaunce (6) and Mason Lowery (4) combined for 10 strikeouts during five innings, but the Scotties could never get the bats going.

Rager (two runs, two walks, stolen bases) and Gavyn Nolan (run, three walks, two stolen bases) were active on the paths. Rebels freshman courtesy runner Conner Wheeler scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the top of the second inning after Brandon walked to lead off the frame.

According to the KHSAA website, Todd County Central is scheduled to continue All A 4th Region Tournament play on April 1. Opponents and specific game information were not immediately available.
