School Records Highlight UHA’s Day at the IOTS

University Heights Academy had some solid finishes and two school records come from Saturday’s Invitational of the South Track and Field Meet at Marshall County High School.

Cole Glover won the 3200-meter run in a time of 10:06.05, which bettered the former UHA school mark of 10:07 ran by Tomas Duncan at the 2019 Panther Twilight Invitational. Glover’s time also shed nearly 11 seconds off his previous personal best time.

UHA’s 800-meter relay team also set a new school mark with a time of 1:36.15, edging last year’s time of 1:36.68 at the Hopkinsville Invitational.

UHA’s girls sent a limited roster to Draffenville and recorded several personal best times.

SPRINTS  

Griffin McCoy finished in sixth place in the 200-meter dash in 23.75 seconds. He was slightly ahead of teammate Clayton Lester who was seventh in 23.8 seconds.

Logan Miller finished 15th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.35 seconds and was 16th in the 110-meter hurdles with a clocking of 21.11 seconds.

Tylin George was 30th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.68 seconds.

Trey Wallace finished in 17th place in the 400-meter dash in 54.88 seconds and came in 34th place in the 100-meter dash (12.62)

MIDDLE DISTANCE

Cam Brown had a good day. The senior finished second in the 800-meter run in 2:07.71 and was ninth in the 400-meter dash in 52.90 seconds.

Hugh Sisk was 15th in the 1600-meter freshman run with a time of 5:53.67.

Jude Finch was 23rd in the 1600-meter freshman run in 6:18.10.

RELAYS

The 800-meter team of Claton Lester, Cam Brown, Tre Wallace, and Griffin McCoy ran the best time in school history yet finished six-tenths of a second behind region rival Fort Campbell. These should be some fun races to watch leading up to the Class 1A Region I Meet.

The 1600-meter relay team finished in sixth place at 3:44.30.

FIELD EVENTS

McCoy was eighth in the long jump at 18 feet, 10 inches but failed to register a distance in the triple jump.

Tylin George was 21st in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 4 inches.

Aaron Onate and Tobias Duncan represented the Blazers in the throwing events. Onate was 21st in the shot put at 35 feet and a half inches and came in 43rd in the discus throw at 69 feet, 3 inches.

Duncan was 22nd in the shot put at 34 feet, 11 inches, and 31st in the discus throw at 86 feet, 7 inches.

TEAM RESULTS

UHA finished in an 11th-place tie out of 28 schools. They, along with Kenwood, had 31 points. Northwest was tenth with 33.5 points.

GIRLS

SPRINTS

Freshman Ajae Oatts was 20th in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:09.73. 25th in the 100-meter dash (14.59).

Aliviah Acree finished in 20th place in the triple jump with a distance of 27 feet.  She also ran in a pair of sprint events. She was 21st in the 200-meter dash in a time of 29.78 and finished 41st in the 100-meter dash (15.07).

Cecelia Langhi was 47th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 32.60.
