20 Hits Enough for Lady Wildcats in Win Over Union County

One night after suffering a walk-off loss at Russellville, the Trigg County Lady Wildcats bounced back with a 12-6 win over Union County Tuesday at the Complex.

There was a fight at the Trigg County bat rack as they laced out 20 hits with the four batters at the top of the lineup going 13 for 19 with seven runs driven in.

Six Lady Wildcats had multiple hits in the contest. Brynlee Smock, who homered in Monday’s loss, had two hits and three RBI.

The Lady Wildcats scored three times in the first inning and two more in the second. They broke the game open with a seven-run fourth inning to lead 12-3.

Trigg pieced together six straight singles in the inning that began with doubles by Kady Fuller and Emma West.

Union County scored two in the fifth and one in the fifth to draw to 12-6 but Avery Wade closed the door with a scoreless seventh inning in the circle for the Lady Wildcats. Wade got the win in the circle for the Lady Wildcats. She struck out five and allowed four earned runs over six innings.

Rylee Hendricks had four hits and two RBI for Trigg. Maddie Smith added four hits and scored three runs. Fuller added three hits and drove in two runs as those three provided the top-of-the-lineup punch.

West and MaKenna Hendricks also had two hits.

Union County smacked a pair of home runs. Sydney Thomas had one of those as part of a four-hit, three-RBI night. Leah Hunley also had a solo homer as the Bravettes had 12 hits. Audrey Staley was 3 for 3 with three runs scored.

The win was Trigg’s first over Union County (2-5) in five years and evened the all-time series at 2-2.

The Lady Wildcats (3-4) will open district play Thursday at Crittenden County.
