Three storylines emerged from the Trigg County Lady Wildcat camp at Saturday’s Invitational of the South Track and Field Meet at Marshall County High School.
First, junior Fatu Crain has positioned herself for a breakout season on the track after being named the Adriene Diamond-Travis Female Athlete of the Meet.
Crain won the 400 meters with a circuit in 1:01.23. It was a personal best time for Crain and the eighth-fastest in school history Only Melissa Thompson, Antionette Mayes, Debbi McGee, and DeDe Barbee have run faster times at TCHS. Thompson owns the school record at 58.60 seconds run in 1984.
Crain also finished in second place in both the 100 and 200 meters. She had the fastest times of any Kentucky runner in the 28-team event, bested only by Rossview’s Kaitlyn McLeod in both races.
Crain ran a 13.32 in the 100 meters and a 26.79 in the 200 meters – both into a strong headwind. Despite the wind, Crain’s 200-meter time was a personal best and just missed entering the top 20 on the school’s list.
A second story emerged with senior middle-distance runner Alliyah Thomas. The Spalding University signee added the 300-meter hurdles to her repertoire this year. In her first competitive race in the event, Thomas looked comfortable and eased around the track in 51.65 seconds which was good for second place, just over a second behind winner Angie Emery of Calloway County.
Rizpah Torian owns the 10 fastest times run by a Trigg County athlete in the event, including a school record time of 45.44 seconds. Thomas’s time ranks as the 14th fastest.
Another Trigg County hurdler, Riley Brame, has also picked up a new event. The junior set a personal best in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches, which was good for fourth place.
Janada Acree owns the school high jump record at five feet, 4 inches.
SPRINTS
Thomas finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.59. She was also 10th in the 200 meters with a time of 28.17 seconds, almost a full second faster than her seeded time.

Brame finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.02 and was 15th in the 300-meter hurdles in 59.59 seconds.
