
The Caldwell County Tigers were held to just four base hits in an 8-2 loss to Carlisle County on Thursday at the VFW Ballpark.
Carlisle starter Koltyn Perez allowed just one run on three hits in five innings of work as the Comets improved to 5-3. Perez struck out five and walked two.
A five-run second inning put Carlisle up 6-0 and Caldwell could never recover.
Perez reached base five times for the Comets, going 2-for-2 with two runs batted in and walking three times.
Dylan Jewell was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Jarren Bruer had a solo home run to right field for the visitors.
Caldwell (3-4) got an RBI double from Ari Wells in the fourth inning to get on the scoreboard.
The Tigers added another run in the seventh inning when Collin Whittington tripled to the fence in right, then circled the bases when the throw back in to the infield got away.
Wells suffered the pitching loss for Caldwell, failing to get through the second inning when the Comets scored five times with two outs.
