The Fort Campbell Lady Falcons have now picked up back-to-back wins for the first time since last April. The Lady Falcons opened with an 11 run first inning and then rolled to a 17-5 8th District win over the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers Thursday evening on post.
Fort Campbell (2-3) pounded out eight hits in the bottom of the first, four of them extra-base hits, as they took the big early lead. The big string of hits came in the form of back-to-back extra-basers from sophomore Ryleigh Watry, 8th grader Avaley Moore, and junior Kiley McCrary..
The Lady Falcons would score in every at-bat for the game, with two more runs in the second, three in the third, and one more in the bottom of the fourth as they closed out the win in five innings. Fort Campbell ended up scoring their 17 runs on 15 hits and taking advantage of three Lady Blazer errors.
The Lady Blazers were able to score in every inning but one, but they could never string together a big inning to chew into the Fort Campbell lead. UHA (0-3) mustered just one hit in the game, that being a single from Katherine Wood in the top of the first inning.
Ryleigh Watry finished the game 5-5 with a triple, four RBIs, and four runs scored. Alexsa Hoffman was 2-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Avaley Moore ended up 2-3 with three RBIs.
In the circle, Kiley McCrary pitched five innings, giving up five runs, one of them earned. She struck out 12 and walked three.
Mallory Ladd went the distance for UHA and was charged with the loss.
