The duo of Naomi Welborn and Addison Woodall combined for six RBI, Abigail McPherson nearly threw a perfect game and the Todd County Central High School softball squad earned their largest win of the season Thursday, defeating McLean County 16-0 in three innings.

Welborn (2-for-2, double, run) and Woodall (1-for-3, two runs) each drove in three runs during the onslaught. The Rebels had just seven hits but took advantage of nine Cougar errors in the run-shortened affair. Rylann Griggs also had a big night, as the bottom of the TCCHS order delivered. Griggs scored twice, drove in a pair and walked twice despite finishing 0-for-1.

McPherson (4-2) was efficient in the circle. She struck out the first two batters she faced and finished with five total K’s. The lone McLean base runner she allowed was when she hit Aubrey Logsdon with a pitch with one out in the second inning.

Todd Central (4-3) scored early when leading hitter Averie Luckenbill (1-for-1, three runs) doubled and scored on an error in the first inning. McPherson and Welborn then delivered with back-to-back singles, and Griggs drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 4-0. The Rebels would score six runs in the opening frame and then nine more in the second to earn the road win.

Logsdon (0-1) took her first loss of the year after lasting just one inning in the circle. She allowed four hits, 10 runs (four earned) and three walks. It was the seventh straight loss overall for the Cougars, who fell to 1-7 on the year.

The Rebels will look to stay hot Saturday when they take on Glasgow in the All “A” 4th Region Tournament at Russellville. The Scotties (3-3) fell to Barren County 10-1 on Thursday.
