Russellville’s Amiyah Collier has been one of the top pitchers in Western Kentucky for several years. And Saturday night in the championship game of the 4th Region All A Classic softball tournament was no different.

Collier limited the Todd County Central Lady Rebels to just one run on two hits as the Russellville Lady Panthers won their third straight 4th Region All A softball championship with a 5-1 win over the Lady Rebels.

Todd County Central’s only run in the game came in the top of the sixth inning when Abby McPherson drove one over the centerfield fence. McPherson had both hits in the game for the Lady Rebels as she finished 2-2 with the home run, an RBI, and a run scored.

Otherwise, Collier was rolling along in the circle. She struck out eight and walked only two in seven innings of work in leading the Lady Panthers to another All A regional title.

The Lady Panthers got all the runs they would need in the bottom of the first as they scored four times. The first four batters all reached base on a hit before the Lady Rebels could get an out and by that time it was a 4-0 lead for the homestanding Lady Panthers.

Russellville would add an unneeded insurance run in the bottom of the third inning.

The Lady Rebels did themselves no favors in the field in the championship game. Todd Central was charged with three errors in the game.

The Lady Rebels reached the regional championship with an overpowering performance against the Glasgow Lady Scotties in the second semifinal game.

Todd County Central scored in every at-bat, including a big eight-run inning in the top of the fourth as they cruised past the Lady Scotties 17-3 in a five-inning contest. The Lady Rebels scored three in the first, one in the second, four in the third, eight in the fourth, and then one more in the top of the fifth.

The Lady Rebels pounded out 16 hits in the game. Seven different Lady Rebels had a base hit in the contest.

Not only did they control things at the plate, senior pitcher Abby McPherson was on her game, especially early in the contest. She gave up three runs in the game, with those runs essentially coming after the issue had been decided. McPherson struck out nine and walked none.

McPherson was on a tear at the plate too. She ended up 3-3 with a double, 3 RBIs, and three runs scored. Naomi Welborn was 3-4 with a pair of doubles. Addison Woodall ended the game 2-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Abby McPherson, Naomi Welborn, and Abby Williams were the Todd County Central Lady Rebels named to the All-Tournament Team.
