
The Fort Campbell Falcons made the trip to Marion on Saturday but dropped identical 17-2 setbacks in a pair of four-inning games against Crittenden County.
In the opener, Crittenden put up three runs in the first and second innings to go up 6-0. An 11-run fourth enabled the Rockets to end the game early on the 15-run mercy rule.
Fort Campbell got both of its runs in the top of the fourth. Jayden Swann and Tyler Hansen each singled home runs in that inning.
Asa McCord was the winning pitcher for Crittenden, tossing all four innings and allowing two earned runs on three base hits while striking out five.
Tyler Belt was 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs batted in for the Rockets while Jeremiah Foster was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and drove in four for the home team.
In game two, Crittenden scored six runs in the first to take control, then finished the game with five runs in the fourth.
Jonah Weisbrich singled home both Fort Campbell runs in the top of the second inning.
Case Gobin was the winning pitcher for Crittenden, allowing two earned runs on six hits in four innings of work. He fanned six and walked three.
Gobin was also 1-for-3 at the plate with a triple and two RBIs while Evan Belt was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI for the Rockets.
Weisbrich finished 2-for-2 for Fort Campbell.
The Falcons are scheduled to host Clarksville Northwest on Monday.
