The Trigg County Lady Wildcats Spring Break tour of the Bluegrass State got off to a bit of a bumpy start Monday. The Taylor County Lady Cardinals rapped out 15 hits on their way to a 12-2 six inning win over the Lady Wildcats.
Taylor County jumped out early in the game scoring four runs with two outs in the bottom of the first inning. They plated two runs on each of back-to-back singles to take the 4-0 lead. The lead grew to 5-0 in the bottom of the second.
Trigg County (4-5) got on the board in the top of the third with a run thanks to a Lady Cardinal error, making it 5-1.
Taylor County got that run back, plus two more, in the bottom half of the inning, making full use of a pair of walks and a Trigg County fielding miscue.
Rylee Hendricks drove across a run with a ground out in the top of the 4th to trim the lead to 8-2.
The Lady Cardinals scored two in the fifth and then got a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.
Rylee Hendricks, MaKenna Hendricks, and Madilynn Smith had two hits each for the Lady Wildcats.
Trigg County pitcher Avery Wade was charged with the loss. However, of the ten runs she was charged with only three of them were earned as Trigg County had three costly errors in the contest.
The Lady Wildcats will take on Perry County Central Tuesday evening.
