Wednesday turned out to be a tough day in the Sunshine State for the Todd County Central Rebels. The Rebels dropped a pair of games in the annual Fort Walton Beach Bash, losing to Franklin, Ohio, and Spencer County.
In the game against Franklin, the Rebels rallied with three runs in the top of the sixth to come from a 5-2 deficit to tie the game only then to see Franklin get the three runs back and claim the 8-5 win.
The Rebels were limited to just three hits in the contest. Nate Reding, Gavyn Nolan, and Devin Schutt each had a single for the Rebels. Jacob Brandon, Grady Reding, and Jase Paul Hampton had one RBI each.
The Rebels did themselves no favor in the field, committing three errors in the game.
Gavyn Nolan was charged with the loss on the mound. Nolan got the start in the contest and went 5 1/3-innings, giving up eight runs, seven of them earned, on nine hits, striking out three and walking five.
In the game against Spencer County, the unbeaten Bears scored nine runs in the first three innings and cruised to a 12-5 win over the Rebels. Fielding issues were again an issue for the Rebels as they had three errors in the game, leading to six unearned runs for Spencer County.
Zach Robinson led the Rebels at the plate, going 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Devin Schutt finished 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Robinson was tagged with the loss on the mound, going 2 2/3-innings, giving up nine runs, only six of them earned, on six hits, striking out three, and walking two. Jase Paul Hampton pitched 4 1/3-innings in relief for Todd County Central (7-5), giving up three runs, none of them earned, striking out seven and walking two.
