A day full of competition saw the Christian County Lady Colonels win a pair and lose one. Christian County was at Butler County High School to take part in the Butler County Round Robin.
The Lady Colonels opened their day in Morgantown by getting a big pitching performance from Gracie Harned. Harned threw a no-hitter at Christian Academy of Louisville as Christian County picked up a 7-1 win.
The only run for CAL came in the top of the third off a walk, a passed ball, and a Christian County error. Otherwise, Harned ruled the game, finishing with four strikeouts and not allowing any earned runs.
The Lady Colonels scored in four of their five at-bats in the contest. Karlie Crick had a big game going 3-3 with a home run. Jada Miller was 2-3 with three RBIs. Gracie Harned was 1-3 with two runs driven in.
In the second game of the day, the Lady Colonels took advantage of four errors by Madison Southern to take a 10-2 five-inning win.
Avery Adock had a big game at the plate, going 3-3 with a double, a triple, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Karlie Crick was 1-1 with her second home run of the day.
Jordan Turner got the start in the circle and went all five innings, giving up two runs, on five hits, striking out six, and walking five.
The final game of the day saw a late Christian County rally come up a run short as Butler County took a 3-2 win over the Lady Colonels.
The game was a scoreless pitchers duel until the bottom of the 5th inning when Butler County broke through and took a 1-0 lead. The Lady Bears strung together three two-out singles to put the first run of the game on the board.
Butler County added two more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning and it turned out to be the difference in the game. Two Christian County errors allowed the runs to score and the lead to grow to 3-0.
A two-run homer with one out from Avery Adcock cut the lead to 3-2. The Lady Colonels would get two more singles but could not get the tying run across the plate as Butler County held on for the one-run win.
Avery Adcock was 2-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Saniya Shields and Gracie Harned also had two hits for the Lady Colonels.
Gracie Harned went the distance in the circle, giving up three runs, just one of them earned, on five hits, striking out one and walking three.
