All A Region Softball Tournament Could Produce New Champion

Seven schools will look to unseat three-time champion Lyon County this week as the All A Classic region tournament gets underway Monday at four sites.

The Lady Lyons have won six region titles, including the last three. The 2021 team won the All A Classic state title.

But a young Lady Lyon team enters play Monday with a 1-5 record. Their last game was a March 30 win over Calloway County.

Lyon will host Heritage Christian Academy Monday at 5:30. The Lady Warriors (1-3) have played once since March 18. Monday’s game will be the first between the schools.

The winner will play either Dawson Springs or Crittenden County in Tuesday’s semifinal at 7:00.

Neither the Lady Rockets (5-5) nor the Lady Panthers (0-7) played over spring break. Crittenden owns a 10-game winning streak over Dawson Springs dating back a decade.

Two teams considered the favorites to win the region are lumped together in the top bracket.

Livingston Central (6-1) will travel to University Heights Monday, a school they haven’t lost to in over two decades.

The Lady Cardinals have won four straight games since a March 20 loss to second-ranked McCracken County.

UHA (0-3) hasn’t played since a March 30 district loss to Fort Campbell.

The Lady Falcons (2-4) will play at Caldwell County (6-6). The Lady Tigers are looking for their first region title since 2018 and second overall. Caldwell hasn’t lost to Fort Campbell in over two decades.

The semifinals will be played Tuesday at 5:30 and 7:00 at Lyon County. The championship game is Thursday at 5:30, also at Lyon County.
