In search of their first victory of the season on Tuesday at Russellville, the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors were held scoreless over the final three frames to fall 8-5 to the Panthers.

The Warriors slipped to 0-4, while Russellville won for the second time in four outings to improve to 2-7.

HCA took a 1st-inning lead when Trentin Fowler came home on an error, and the Warriors doubled their advantage when Bradley Boyd scored on a passed ball.

An HCA error allowed Russellville to cut the lead in half in the bottom of the 2nd, and the Panthers surged in front in their next at-bat on Lyndon Wilson’s RBI single.

The Warriors answered with a two-out rally in the 4th, pushing a pair of runs across on Boyd’s double and leading 5-3 after Fowler scored on a passed ball.

But the Warrior bats went quiet the rest of the way, and a three-run 6th put Russellville in front for good.

Fowler took the loss on the mound for HCA, allowing six runs, four earned, on three hits with eight walks and three strikeouts.  Carson Powell came on in relief, surrendering two earned runs on a hit with six walks and five strikeouts.

Eric Zamarripa picked up the win for Russellville, working three and a third innings and giving up three runs, only one earned, on a hit with five walks and seven strikeouts.

HCA will host Cornerstone Christian on Saturday before heading to Livingston Central on Tuesday.
