Fielding miscues were a significant problem for the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons Friday evening. The Lady Falcons were charged with 11 errors over two games as they lost a pair to the Webster County Lady Trojans, falling 16-1 in three innings in the opener and then dropping a 14-2 five-inning decision in the nightcap on post.

The first game saw the Lady Trojans blow it open early. After scoring one run in the top of the first, Webster County erupted for 11 runs in the top of the second to take a 12-0 lead. The Lady Trojans used eight singles, two walks, and a hit batter to score the runs.

Four walks and two Lady Falcon errors opened the door for four more Webster County runs in the top of the third inning. Fort Campbell was charged with six total errors over the three innings of play.

The Lady Falcons lone run in the game came off an RBI single from Tristan Caldwell in the bottom of the third inning, but it was not enough to keep the game rolling.

In addition to Caldwell’s hit, Alexsa Hoffman and Emma Kolmerton had hits for the Lady Falcons.

The second game turned out to be more of the same, as the Lady Falcon fielding woes continued. Webster County used a six-run first inning to seize control of the contest from the get-go and take a 6-0 lead.

The Lady Falcons trimmed the lead to 6-1 in the bottom half of the inning when they scored a run on a ground out. Fort Campbell trimmed the lead a bit more to 6-2 in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from Anika Weisbrich.

The Lady Trojans added two runs in the top of the third to go back up 8-2. Webster County blew the game wide open in the top of the fourth, using five hits and two Fort Campbell errors to score six runs and take a 14-2 lead. That would be the score as the game ended after the bottom of the fifth.

The Lady Falcons were charged with five errors in the second game.

In addition to Weisbrich’s hit, the Lady Falcons got base hits from Carrie McCrary, Jordan Wilkerson, and Ryleigh Watry.
