Christian County Girls Split Games at Marshall Slugfest

The Christian County Lady Colonels split a pair of games in the Marshall County Slugfest on Friday.

The Lady Colonels rallied to beat Graves County 5-4 but then fell to Marshall County 11-4.

Gracie Harned and Kaleigh Shaw had back-to-back RBI singles with two outs in the bottom fo the fifth inning to give Christian its first lead of the day at 5-4.

Graves (5-7) had taken a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

But the Lady Colonels trimmed the gap to a single run with three runs in the third inning.

Karlee Crick singled home two runs while another run scored on an error.

Jordan Turner was the winning pitcher for the Lady Colonels. She blanked Graves over the final 6.2 innings, allowing just five base hits while striking out six and walking just one.

But Christian couldn’t keep the momentum going in their second game.

Instead, Marshall County used a 10-run first inning to grab control early on the way to a seven-run triumph.

Avery Adcock homered for the Lady Colonels. Harned was 2-for-3 at the plate while Saniya Shields and Crick were each 2-for-4.

Allicen Harris was 2-for-3 with a double for Marshall.

Gracelyn Darnall was the winning pitcher for the Lady Marshals, allowing four earned runs on eight hits.

Christian is now 8-6.

The Lady Colonels will host games against Trigg County and Logan County on Saturday.
