
To quote longtime St. Louis Cardinals’ broadcaster the late Jack Buck, “that’s a winner.” Avery Adock’s one-out home run to center in the bottom of the 7th inning carried the Christian County Lady Colonels to a 5-4 home field win over the Logan County Lady Cougars Saturday afternoon.
Adcocks blast came after Logan had rallied from a 4-2 deficit with two runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Logan County took the early 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning on an RBI single from McKenzie Robinson.
Christian County got their first lead of the day in the bottom of the third. Karlee Crick singled to score Avery Adcock and cut the lead to 2-1. Gracie Harned then blasted a double to center, scoring Saniya Shields and Brittan Joiner.
That lead grew to 4-2 in the bottom of the 4th on an RBI double from Haley Petterson.
Logan County took full advantage of two walks in the top of the fifth, scoring two runs on a base hit from Addison Holloway to make if 4-4, setting the stage for Avery Adcock’s heroics.
Karlee Crick finished the game 2-3 with a double and a run scored. Gracie Harned was 2-3 with a double and two RBIs. Avery Adock ended up 1-4 with a home run, an RBI, and two runs scored.
In the circle, 8th grader Jordan Turner went all seven innings. She gave up four runs on six hits, striking out seven while walking five.
The Lady Colonels are back in action Tuesday on the road at Livingston Central.
