Trigg’s Threes Help Down Union County

Trigg County put a three-spot on the scoreboard in the second and fifth innings to hold off Union County 6-4 Friday in the semifinals of the Class 2A Sectionals.

The Lady Wildcats will play Paducah Tilghman in Saturday’s championship game for the right to move on to the Class 2A State Tournament in Owensboro.

Kady Fuller broke out of a slump at the plate by playing a part in both scoring innings. She doubled in the second inning after an Emma West walk. Veyda Grinols plated two with a single to right and scored on a Rylee Hendricks double.

Hendricks would add her second double leading off the fifth inning. Makenna Hendricks followed with a single. They would score on a misplayed fly ball off the bat of Brynlee Smock. Fuller would add her second double of the game to score Smock for a 6-1 Trigg lead.

Audrey Staley singled home a run in the home half of the fifth. Her third hit of the night plated a run in the seventh. She finished the game 3-for-4 with a triple. Peyton Jenkins added two hits for the Bravettes.

Grinols joined Fuller and Rylee Hendricks with two hits for the Lady Wildcats. Avery Wade improved to 3-5 in the circle with the win. She allowed five hits and three earned runs in 4.1 innings. Tember Oliver added 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.

Trigg County (7-7) will play Paducah Tilghman in Saturday’s championship game.
