Christian County’s Aiden Lewis allowed a single run over six and two-thirds innings to help the Colonels earn a season sweep of 8th-District rivals Hopkinsville with a 4-1 victory on Monday.

The Colonels put a stop to a two-game skid to improve to 12-10 with a visit from Muhlenberg County coming up on Tuesday.  The Tigers head to Paducah Tilghman looking to bounce back from the end of a three-game winning run.

Lewis pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the 2nd, and struck out a pair and coaxed a line out the keep the game scoreless with the bases juiced in the 3rd.

Christian County responded in record-setting fashion, taking a 2-0 lead on Elijah Underhill’s two-run shot that gave him the program’s career record with 20 home runs.

Hopkinsville got a run back when JJ Thompson came home on a passed ball in the top of the 4th, but Lewis allowed only two base runners the rest of the way before exiting with two outs in the 7th.

Lewis held the Tigers to a single earned run on six hits with four walks and eight strikeouts before reaching his pitch count.  Edward Davis came on in relief to get the final out.

Lucas Kaetzel took the loss, giving up four runs, three earned, on five hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts.  Dylan Sweeney and Zach Moss each finished with two hits for the Tigers.

Gage Montes led the Colonels with a pair of hits, Underhill reached 18 RBI for the season, and Blake Boehman drove in a run.
