Kentucky’s offense has big expectations for next season with the return of offensive coordinator Liam Coen, the addition of transfer quarterback Devin Leary and expected improvement from big-play receivers Dane Key and Barion Brown in their second season of college football.
Kentucky associate head coach Vince Marrow says not to overlook what freshman receiver Anthony Brown of Ohio.
“If you talk to any of the coaches, the first thing that jumps off about him is his work ethic,” Marrow said about the four-star receiver. “He’s the first guy in the facility, the last guy to leave. He comes back to watch older guys work out to learn from them.
“In the winter conditioning, he really stood out. He wanted to win everything.”
Former UK standouts Lynn Bowden and Wan’Dale Robinson both called Marrow to tell him that Brown was the “real deal” after seeing him work out. Marrow also said Coen “loved” Brown when he was recruiting him before he left UK for one season back in the NFL.
“I really believe he has the opportunity to make a run and play some ball for us this year,” Marrow said. “He just does everything in a first-class way. He reminds me more of Wan’Dale than Lynn. He is way ahead of both of them as a freshman coming into college because he’s always been a receiver.
“Lynn and Wan’Dale were both freaks but this kid is an even better receiver.”
