The weather has wiped out a state softball tournament that had been scheduled for this weekend. Officials with the Kentucky Christian Athletic Conference announced Thursday afternoon that their state softball tournament would be canceled due to the inclement weather and the field playability issues that would arise in connection to the weather.
Officials also noted that with four of the six participating teams, including the Heritage Christian Lady Warriors, having a long drive to the host site at Cornerstone Christian Academy, in Shelby County, they wanted to stay ahead of the weather and help avoid unnecessary expenses for traveling teams.
Heritage Christian, Community Christian, in Paducah, Somerset Christian, and Christian Fellowship were among the six seeds set to take part in the tournament and would have had the longest drives to take part.
The tournament had been scheduled to be played Saturday.
