A longtime Caldwell County assistant football coach is the school’s new head coach.
CCHS announced Friday morning that Aaron McClung will take over the Tiger football program after Will Barnes unexpectedly stepped down from that position last month.
McClung was an assistant coach for Caldwell from 2003-2021, starting as the offensive line coach and then being defensive coordinator from 2011-21.
McClung played high school football at Graves County before being a Western Kentucky Hilltopper from 1993-97.
He had previous coaching stops at Greenwood, Graves County and Fulton County before joining head coach Anthony Hatchell’s staff at Caldwell in 2003.
McClung announced much of his staff Friday morning as well. Jeff Riley will be the assistant head coach while Waynee McGowan will be the defensive coordinator and Bradley Stallins the offensive coordinator.
McClung is currently the principal at Caldwell County High School but will be stepping down from that job to take a new position at the Board of Education office.
